Project Overview

Historic places, buildings and stories make up the community identity and remind us of our shared history. To preserve and deepen our roots, and celebrate historical and cultural resources that represent Manhattan’s History, the City of Manhattan is preparing a Historic Preservation Plan. As a part of this planning process, we will identify buildings, places and cultural assets worth of preservation and protection, determine historic preservations role in development within the city and determine actionable goals and initiatives to guide future preservation decisions in Manhattan.

Stay tuned for updates about the process, engagement opportunities and future documents!

Community Survey

The City of Manhattan is currently developing it's first Historic Preservation Plan (HPP). As part of the HPP process, the City of Manhattan and its Community Development Department request the community's opinion and input on historic preservation in Manhattan. Your input is important to this process, as it helps us understand the broader Manhattan community's thoughts on historic preservation and its needs and wants. Our survey consists of 18 questions, and will take 10-15 minutes to complete. Click the link below to get started!
